Plainoku · A quiet puzzle break
Medium Cat Sudoku · 6 × 6
Queens-style cat placement, not number sudoku. One cat per row, column and color region.
Use arrow keys to move between squares. Enter or Space places a cat, or marks a square in Mark mode. Tab leaves the board.
Tap to place a kitty. Use Mark to rule a square out.

What changes on a 6 × 6 Cat Sudoku board?
Medium gives you thirty-six squares and asks for six cats. The rules remain one per row, column and irregular color region, with no edge or diagonal touching. The extra row and column create more intersections to inspect than a five-by-five grid, but the actual region layout determines the useful deductions. Medium is a size category, not a promise of a specific logical challenge. This format also matches Plainoku’s daily puzzle, so it is a convenient place to practise the controls before playing that fixed arrangement.
How can narrow regions guide your next cat placement?
Inspect regions that occupy only a few rows or columns. Suppose all remaining candidates of one region lie in the same column. Its cat must use that column, so cats in other regions cannot occupy it. You can mark those exclusions without placing the first cat yet. Return to the affected rows after recording the restriction; one may now have a single legal position. This is a deduction about the actual candidate positions, not a shortcut based on which color appears visually smallest on the screen.
How do practice notes differ from the daily puzzle result?
Marks are temporary reasoning aids on whichever board is currently open. They are not a score and do not affect whether a completed daily counts. Place a cat only when you can explain its position, then mark its row, column, region and neighboring exclusions. If you start the daily, you are opening a separate fixed puzzle rather than submitting your practice notes. A daily completion offers a fresh six-by-six practice board afterward, and repeated completion of that date does not advance the daily streak again.
How can the Cat Sudoku controls support a careful retry?
A red cell warns about the cats currently on the board, not every future consequence of a legal-looking move. Read the plain reason beneath the tools, then remove a conflicting cat or use Undo. Erase clears an occupied selected square. Hint can remove a wrong cat or reveal one correct position; it is answer assistance rather than a deduction tutor. Each generated practice arrangement is checked for one solution, but you may still need to revise a tentative branch or an exclusion you recorded incorrectly.
When is six-by-six practice a useful choice?
Choose this page for a standalone arrangement at the daily’s familiar size, or for a fresh attempt after completing today’s puzzle. Practice is not time-limited, and there is no score required to unlock larger boards. Play again starts another six-by-six practice puzzle; it does not change the daily’s date-based arrangement. Your current board and statistics stay in this browser when local storage is available. Another device or website origin has its own save. Move to seven-by-seven when you want more positions to organize, not because Medium is a certified skill test.
Keep the practice and daily labels in view when you switch formats. They tell you which arrangement you are actually solving, even though both use six rows. If you want a new unrestricted attempt, choose practice; if you want the date-based result, return to today’s daily and follow its fixed layout.
